Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare to install topping slab.
- Review and clarify task to install topping slab.
- Review task specifications and check to make sure they are in accordance with legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- Review work health and safety (WHS) requirements for the task in accordance with safety plans and policies.
- Identify safety signage and barricade requirements.
- Review environmental requirements for the task in accordance with environmental plans and legislative requirements.
- Select plant, tools and equipment, check for serviceability and rectify or report any faults.
- Calculate material quantity requirements.
- Acquire materials for the task and locate them safely ready for use.
- Prepare concrete for topping slab.
- Erect identified safety signage and barricades, and fit personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Determine need for concrete reinforcement through consultation with relevant personnel and install reinforcement in accordance with specifications.
- Select and check preparation equipment for this process.
- Scarify existing concrete using appropriate preparation techniques in accordance with specifications.
- Clear surface loose particles and debris from surface to be topped.
- Check existing control joints in substrate to ensure they are carried through and reflected in proposed topping.
- Pour topping slab.
- Cure and seal topping slab.
- Clean up after installing topping slab.
